Odd critter may be eating leather

does anyone know what this is. I recently moved a 265g tank. I thought this devils hand leather was ripped during the tear dow. This is taken at night so the leather is sleeping and it seams like these white things are more visible. Not moving though
 
That is spicules, the 'skeleton' of your leather. It certainly was damaged recently, appears to have been ripped from something it had grown up against. It happens in the wild and they survive ok.

I hope I speld spicules correctly, but if I didn't someone will point that out.
