Hi everyone, I’m very curious on what exactly is on my scarlet pinstripe wrasse, I’ve had him for a few weeks now and purchased pre quarantined, you can only see it at certain angles when he’s swimming, it doesn’t look like ich or velvet to me though. There’s no group of white dots, it’s almost like a grey colour, some are on his fins too. He swims normally, eats very well, and showing no signs of sluggish movement, I could be wrong though, just wondering if it’s some kind of parasite I should be aware of, thank you so much for the help! I couldn't take a good photo unfortunately, he was always moving so you couldn’t see what I was talking about. Thanks again.

Nothing comes immediately to mind from your description. Did the coloration change suddenly, or gradually over time? It could just be excess skin mucus from some irritant. What type of substrate does the tank have?

As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Any chance you can get a video with a cell phone and try to take a screen grab from that?

The colour did change suddenly yes, I saw it only last night, the colour itself isn’t very bright either, quite dull and dark, like I said it’s almost a darker grey. I have CaribSea dry sand as the substrate, I will also try and take a better photo or video.

A pic ot two would really help us to determine

The lights are out now and that’s when he hides in the rock and sleeps, I’ll get a photo or two when I can. Thank you.
Here’s best photo I could get, sorry it’s not the best, you can just about see it on the top of his body, near the fin, and also around his head. Thank you.
