By far not an expert. But from experience buying 15-20 of the same fish always results in having only 1 or 2 of them. It's like a season of the bachelor (I always miss the handing out of the roses) or the movie Highlander (there can be only one).

Chromis seem to dwindle down to 1-2. Similar experience with anthias, I started out with 9, 18 months later I only have 2.

I know it's not a scientific answer, more from experience, but it always seems to play out that way for me.

I did have that issue when I first started the in the hobby, but I also keep on hearing if you have plenty of hiding spaces or have a bigger fish to keep them in line? How about keeping 5 or 6 chromies, do you think it will be the same issue of taking each other out?

I have had 4 in my tank for the past 1.5 years. They show some aggression occasionally, but nothing that bad. I keep them fed well and they are rather large. JP
How big is your tank?

Its a general rule with tangs to go Odd number. . . 1, 3 , 5 and so fort. Angels- Only one of its kind
