My ato container has to sit next to the tank in the livingroom. I don't want just a jug or a pet food dispenser--kinda tacky, not that my livingroom is formal or fancy (lucky it gets cleaned...)

I have a hex 20 gal tank that I no longer need as a fish qt so thought about using that. Maybe sitting it on a low stool or table. I thought to maybe put in either a couple fake plants or a ceramic decoration so it isn't just a tank of water. Might get some background to cover all but the front to keep light out from the window if it hits it.

Will that work? Any drawback to having decorations in your ato container?

Nope...as long as they are inert decorations, it would be perfectly fine. Have you thought about setting a small cabinet there though with drawers where it can be hidden? You can cover the top with pictures or other decorations....won't even look like it is part of the tank.

That's an idea @Waters. I don't want it too hard to add water to it. And it can't be press board with water... Will have to see if I can find something: cabinet or stool or low table Ha! I could cover a moving dolly to hide the wheels so I could move it out of the way when I need to get to that side of the tank...

Yes, @mtraylor. I do, out in the kitchen. Have to run water from the hose outside through the window. Bought a separate hose to use and just let the line hang oput the window.

I actually run my RODI unit directly to my aquarium so I don't have to bother with all the water storage stuff. I do run this with a controller and fail safes. If you have a controller its an option.

This scares the **** out of me. Stuff breaks and I don't want a tank overflowing with fresh water killing everything. Because it always happens when you're not around to stop it.

I agree with @Waters small cabinet with pull out on the bottom to put the container in. Just don't pull it out all the way when you fill or it will tip over ;Hilarious;Hilarious;Hilarious
