So something I have been wondering about RODI filters…maybe it’s in the manual but I am one of those “toss the manual and learn by doing” types. Is it bad for the filter to simply unplug it when you are done rather than turn off the water supply? Are there any pre-shutdown steps they take - I don’t know, clearing water from various reservoirs- that will get missed if you do this?

Not sure what you mean by "unplug"? As long as the water supply is on it will keep trying to run. Most have auto shut off valves so when back pressure comes (like when using a float valve or similar) it stop the flow of water. Trying to picture what you mean by unplugging your rodi?

Oh I mean literally pull the electrical plug from the wall. It is much easier to get to than the water shut off

Generally speaking an rodi unit does not require electric. If you have it plugged in I assume maybe this is for a booster pump? Maybe connected to an electronic solenoid to turn off water supply but I doubt it.

Is that not normal? It has an inline TDS meter is it only powering that?
That's likely. RO only requires water pressure, basically.

My inline TDS meter runs on watch batteries, but there are probably meters that plug into 120v.

I have never seen a corded TDS meter, but I am sure it is possible. Can you post picture of the unit? In any case no unplugging power is not going to turn off the rodi (again unless it is a fancy setup that with some sort of solenoid in which case it might close a water valve but I really doubt that is the case).
