I have the strangest shells in my sandbed that seemly come out of nowhere. Its solid inside I was thinking limpet at first. Any ideas?

as stated, its the 'trap door' snails use to to protect themselves inside the shell. they come off when the snail dies... how many empty snail shells you have? each one of the things you find fits one of the empty shells perfectly

its called and Operculum

Its strange I only have periwinkles that have thin flat operculum, must've been snails that came on LR that I didn't notice. Probably ended up as a hogfish snack haha. Thanks!
