Odd sound

Not every night but a few times a week about 1-2 hours after lights out there is a loud sound that almost sounds like a rock falling in my sump .
but there are no rocks in the sump to fall

the only thing in my sump that I know of is cheato , a few mesh bags of media . And skimmer pump .

I have a pair of pistol shrimp in a nightstand nano. As if I needed another thing to make the hobby to be less popular at home...

Are they large enough to notice ?
I can rip a few handfuls of cheato out if needed

If that’s the case . Are they good to have other than making crashing sounds that make me think my rocks collapsed ?

They tend to be pretty cryptic. You are better off making a bottle trap and catching it that way.

I had a few living in filter sock compartment for months and they were tiny, mantis shrimp could be able to do similar noises also

You can train it to answer 1click for YES and 2clicks for NO

I wouldn't recommend hunting for it with your hands. It'll hurt if it pops you, but +1 I definitely think it's a pistol shrimp, and they're mostly active at night They're 95% blind.

I haven’t added anything in almost 6 months ago when I bought a bta

Yeah that’s definitely a pistol shrimp haha

idk how it got there. They are almost microscopic when babies.

maybe they hitched a ride in the Chaeto.

if it’s in your sump probably how it happened.
