Friend of mine give me this one, I'm looking for ID, because he give it to me with another 2 smaller (brown) stomatella, and in probably 4-5 hours they die, only the black-big one is still alive. Never saw before Stomatella over 1 inch, in mm it's about 30mm, which unusual to find for Stomatella.
If some one can ID it (if it's false Stomatella I'll appreciate it, can't get anything from the WEB what are the differences between the genuine Stomatella SP and the False Stomatellas.
I make and VIDEO of it, and with the measuring tape, to can show how long it is.

Looking to confirm before put it in the tank (I do love Stomatellas at all), to be completely sure it's the proper Stomatella

Thank you

Elephant Shield Ducksbill Limpet. Reef safe grazer

that make sense, but it don't have mantle over the shell, it's completely black. it don't look like any of the photos here about
It also have many antennae around it
I didn't see other antennas. That would be a scutus A/K/A elephant snail

Never known stomellas as black but you know the ocean- Nothing should surprise us

Yep, Stomatella's color is highly variable.
Very interesting- in researching :
These snails are usually dark brown or black, but can be almost any color – I’ve even seen some that are bright lime green

Agree with most of you, I had before 2 black Stomatella, but never had any of this size, and can't see on the Stomatellas I have this many antennae
if you check the link on the 1st post and the link here, will see more ->photos + videos<-

hope isn't Abalone SP, they grow a bit big...

They are related to Abalone:

"Stomatella (“little mouth”) shells, with their side-flaring aperture and flattened coiling, appear to lie in a transitional position between the abalones (Haliotidae) and top shells (Trochidae), (Calliostomatidae)."

Compare the mantle on the stomatella below and the mantle on your snail in the last two photos.

@35ppt if you look on the links I post (#1 and #11) you can see some differences, the antennae are a bit longer (very long to me), and something else specific: The eyes have some additional parts to them on both of sides, really looking many photos online, can't find any similar Stomatella. the body is very dark to black, but it appear to be a bit brown (very dark brown on dots like) If you have the time to check the videos from the links, probably it can appear to be something which you can identify. and something else, it stay mainly on top of the surface of the container I put it in, even after I replace the water in completely, and I put some shells to can hide under when it's bright lights on over it (isn't hiding at all, which always the stomatellas do)

I did, I don't see any differences, Stomatella's antennae can be very long, just depends on how much it's stretching them out. See the photo below:

About the front one, ok, agree with you, but I mean about all the tentacles/antennae (for distance and other sensing functions) which are around it on the body. I'm not looking to find something which don't exist, but because I'm looking most of the animals under "magnifier" like maniac, I'm trying to have a clue about all what's going in to my system, to can treat the life in properly :) Hope you understand what I mean. I'm not freaking out  (like look like probably). ;)

Check out this stomatella sticking out it's sensory tentacles more. The snail can vary how much it wants to stick out the tentacles.
iu
you are right @35ppt x
Just like I say I'm looking all the possible things, to get the complete true ;) it's beautiful this Stomatella x
