Just saw several of these thin, translucent strings in my tank. Three coming out of the rocks and one from the middle of a sandy patch. Bought the tank with established rock and I can see lots of little life in the tank (been running 3 weeks in my home. No fish yet, but a few frags)--asterina, some really tiny filter feeders, a few ?bugs? of some sort, a bristle worm (he got away...), and Aiptasia (but I have a few berghia nudis working on those)--but these are newer. Funnily enough, the translucent strings all receded back into their hiding places as soon as I took the picture, like they were watching or something (cue music from the Abyss). What are they?

Also, noticed a small Aiptasia on a new frag (bought last weekend). Frag was dipped before I put into my DT, but unsure if this guy made it through. Should I wait for the nudis to get it, or will it interfere with the drag's healing/growth, and are more immediate measures warranted? Thanks!

Digitate Hydroids

Or if it’s coming out of a hard tube… vermetid snail

And finally--I think that this one is easy--One of the zoas on my frag looks like it is ready to go for a swim. Can I just pull it from the display, put a little dab of super glue down, and replace it in the tank?

Hope it's not vermetid... The ones I've seen have come from deep within small holes in the rock and one from under the middle of the substrate. Are digitate hydroids something to fret over?

Yes

they catch debris with the fishing lines you see. They can potentially irritate corals with the line but I don’t fret over them.. or most things tbh..,
