Odor and Dead spots in Sump

Need a little help
I get odor every time I do a WC or TO (didn't hook up ATO yet). I think my dead spots are the return chamber, Roller Mat section and the overflow. . I have a drain line off the return manifold that I use to WC/TO ,so when the return section gets empty it starts smelling and worse when I am refilling and the pump pushes all that dead water into the display, stinks up the entire house

I have 1 air stone in my skimmer section one in the fuge, none in the return. I would like to circulate the water in the return section but not sure if an air stone will work. I tried a power head but its too powerful on the lowest setting. Suggestions on a pump for that section and something small enough that can fit in the roller mat would be greatly appreciated. For the overflow section which I don't disturb much I was thinking of putting a long pipe 1 1/2 off the bottom ... What you think? Suggestion. and thank you

I don’t understand how you don’t have enough flow in sump, Esp if the problem is in the return chamber next to the return pump.

What gph is the pump? What’s the total volume of the tank.

You can get the little 12v pumps for $4 on eBay if you buy 4-5.

I think I have enough flow. I have wavelike dc6000 1585 pump. my tank is a 220, my sump is 30 gal, my uv sterilizer takes up about 2 gallon, roller mat is about 10 gal . I have the water level from the fuge to return 1/2 way between weir and the return is 1/2- 3/4 below that baffle. If I set it lower I get better flow, but then that increases the level of the water in the roller mat and in the display which I don't really mind, but then I would have to choke the drain pipes and was told before to keep them 100% open. I can see the surface water not moving cause it has stagnated bubbles ...

Personally, and I haven’t done the return rate math yet on yours, but I have a dc 5000 on my 55g at 90%.

You can drop a couple of those little 12v pumps in there , but I think your return pump is too small. It shouldn’t be doing that if the flow through the sump is correct.

I don't know what the percentage is, but I have it on the second setting, if I put it any higher my drains don't keep up. They are 1" on both sides going into the roller mat. Before the roller mat no problem cause it was going through filter socks.. but was advised that the slower it passes through the better.
I will adjust it to the highest I can without overflowing the display and see how it works out...in the mean time will get some of what you recommended...

Yea, that can’t be enough flow in there.
Not sure why the overflow would back up like that unless it’s not rated correctly.

If it’s too slow , stuff can’t get out of the display as well.
