So i am trying to decide what i should do and want to see what other would or have done.

My system is 210 mixed reef that can been seen here

http://reef2reef.com

it is running off 2 pumps a marlin and barracuda (closed loop).

The marlin goes to the manifold which i have 3 open spots right now. My calcium reactor is running of a maxijet 660. I was thinking of adding the calcium reactor to the main pump (marlin) thru the manifold, this would cut out the extra pump in the sump.

Do you see a problem with that? or should i just leave it alone. I would like to minimize the about of pumps i am using.

No use using the extra power on a pump that's not 100% necessary

pushing the amount of water thru the reactor is going to be very little, i would not say it would be alot of extra power.

or are you saying using the maxijet is not necessary?

As long as it's enough to make it drip, then that i enough correct? If so I say go for it.

I need to actually do the same thing myself! Sounds like a weekend job. :)

Just be careful if your return pump is PRESSURE rated! Here is my reactor that is made of 3/8" acrylic sheet after I added a small valve to the output...

the valve:

I had it fed from a Blue line 55, with TWO ball valves before the reactor, a 3/4" valve that was barely open, and a 1/4" RO line valve, so I thought I had slowed the input enough.

I bet the problem on that was more on the co2 input than the pressure from the pump. Probably had too much co2 building up. Most calcium reactors are made to run pressurized, only a few are not.

I can't really argue that, other then it had been running fine (for about a week or 10 days) when I regulated the INPUT side from the return pump. The only change I made was to add that little valve to the output. The split happened with 20 minutes of adding the valve, that leads me to believe it was the return pump, not the CO2. (But I still have no proof.)
