Hello All,

I get so much from R2R and I wanted to give back to the community! I am the Plant Engineer at a high temperature carbon manufacturer. I have my bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and I am willing to share my knowledge and offer assistance where I can. I have an in-depth knowledge in statics, dynamics, fluid mechanics and much more. I have access to solidworks and I am experienced in drawing and design. At work I deal with mechanical systems, electrical systems, control systems, cooling systems, fluid and pneumatic systems. Finally I'm a good problem solver. If there is anything I can do to assist anyone please let me know.

Hiya. Glad to meet you. I am starting to get my thoughts together on a large (1000L) build with a separate room for RODI/Salt make up + auto water changes. A long time ago (like 22 years ago) I did some system design for BioPharma systems (small tangential flow and chromatography systems). I did some CAD and FMEA stuff and was looking forward to getting back into that again. Now, back in those days (year 1999) I remember printing out, like, 200 copies of the P&ID and going through them operation by operation with a highlighter, tracing out flow paths and valve positions for the various operation control specs. I am sure that was not the best way to do that then, and even more sure that today, from a P&ID, there is software that will help you do this. Assuming I am using either Visio, or LibreCAD (or another free CAD software you can recommend), is there a software that can help me map the various flow paths, valve states, and instrumentation controls? Printing it out seems very last millennium (which, of course, it was :-)) .
Thanks, from a lapsed Chemical engineer!
