Office Reef Tank

Looking at setting up an office reef tank. I am leaning towards a ricordea and shroom tank OR an all LPS thank. But I don’t want to have to run a skimmer. I am ok with a small fuge however. It’s would be a smaller tank and I want it simple. I want to jam a lot of tangs in there too. Jk. I am open to anything as long as it’s easy to maintain. PS I have 800 gallons of tanks at home and keep everything under the sun. I have not ever done a small standalone tank however.

Red-Sea Max tanks are nice... but have a skimmer.

I have an IM Nuvo 30L as my office tank. I picked it because it was an AIO. It’s big enough to house several fish and lots of corals, but not so big that maintenance is a pain. My goal is to get it to be a ULM tank. Just set up a refugium in one of the back chambers and have already seen a good drop in nutrients.

AIO (all in ones ) are ideal for office setting and easy to service and maintain as the filtration is in essence a mini sump built in. You can even run an IceCap K-1 skimmer which is a miniature full size skimmer and works like a champ.
Innovative marine 20g drop off would be ideal

I’d go with a Red Sea e170/260 they look nice which is important for an office.

Thanks guys. Has anyone run one without a skimmer. I want it to be dead silent. I like the fuge idea.

I have a skimmer on mine, it makes no noice. However, I question how useful it is. My skimmate isn’t very dark. Probably making two of the chambers in back refugium would be just a beneficial.

I've ran a number of Picos and Nano's in the office, not one had a skimmer. Biggest was 5G and I simply did 100% water changes once a week to every 10 days, sadly the Covid 19 situation (and a leak) has shut down my latest
