Officially my last post on r2r

Reading the OP I'm thinking oh no, this site is turning into the other site... but after reading through it and many of the posts from mods and @revhtree it reinforced to me that this site is and will continue to be R2R, unlike any other. A great team running this site, so many helpful people (both professionals and hobbyists). This site has grown so much in the past year or two but still has the welcoming small site feel to it. Credit to the mods and rev for that.

I laughed harder at that than I should have. Ha!

This was my exact reaction... At first I was sad and then I saw that gif

It was my thread that was removed but I have yet to receive a message explaining why it was removed.
Actually, you should have received a pm from me. Please check again.

Time for some tough love: It is very childish to create a thread stating that you are leaving because you were slapped on the wrist for violating rules. If your point was to make other members upset for you and flood R2R leadership with nastygrams, I say you failed. If the intent was to make us feel sorry for you, you failed once you decided to make a professional point in an unprofessional manner. Now take these lessons with you to the next forum, but only after you read the user agreement. Just my opinion.

I believe that to maintain a forum that is positive and professional there are rules and policies that must be adhered to. I know I have made mistakes in my postings before and always have had an explanation for my error and why it's been addressed in a positive way. I feel the @reefsquad has always been professional in the way they address issues that come about. It's for the good of the forum for everyone. Please check your PMs and I'm confident that an explanation has been provided and why. As mentioned, everyone is human and mistakes do occur but I know when mistakes do occur that the @reefsquad will correct it promptly. Let's use the tools we have on this forum to address issues in a positive way. JMO

Just for clarification anytime something is removed we (the mod staff) try our best to let the user know why.
I would say that I have been told when I stepped over the line. It happens. I've understood and they've had great communication with me. So I agree

This is my official resignation of being a r2r forum member. I was just notified that r2r removed another members thread due to me apparently promoting a LFS that does not pay r2r a sponsor fee. I realize r2r needs to make a profit to operate, however completely removing the thread all together, come on guys...a simple explanation of things that cannot be "promoted" or the removal of the post that you consider "non compliant" would have be sufficient. I have never been paid by any "fish store" in fact, I don't even sell corals, as I am a small business owner and realize it is very difficult for a vendor to survive in today's market. So I don't compete with them. I have supported over 15 different vendors on reef2reef, and have promoted different corals from different vendors many times on here. I'm tired of the politics, I tried to be engaging and introduce fun topics as much as possible on r2r, and I met allot of great people on here, so it's a shame this happened, but this is too much for me. The hilarious thing about this whole turn of events, is the LFS that apparently I cannot mention on here, I had been strongly convincing to become a sponsor on r2r. Thanks to everyone who I met on here and engaged in various topics on here! So long!!! Happy reefing!

I'm gonna agree. Every time I post something even the smallest most minute thing I get a message in the next 5 minutes like I did something so wrong to the point it's pathetic. I've gotten messaged at least 5 or 6 times past in the last 10 posts I've posted. It's really stupid to be honest. The first one was about me posting something stating if anyone was looking for help that I would love to help them and I stated that although I don't know everything I'd love to help someone because I have 10 years of experience. An hour later I was shot down stating that I was acting like a smartie pants. I love this hobby to help people and I work at petco to do the same exact thing. And then a couple of days later I get a message about my name because my last name is ganja they assumed I was dealing drugs stating that there are children on here. I actually sent him a photo of my ID because I got so mad that they though of that. What's the chances of within a week I get two messages and one of them should have been resolved when I first joined about 2 year ago? And just the other day I get another message like this is really stupid. Do you guys want us to join and suggest others to join or not. We all have flaws and it's not fair to other me that have this happen to them.

We have almost a million visits a month here at R2R and I still HATE it when even one member feels like they need to leave R2R. I am not sure what is going on with the situation you posted about but we will all be looking in to it. We have a team of GREAT mods and fellow hobbyists here so I am sure we can figure it out. Thanks.

It's like Big Brother on here. Please fix something.

Joe,

Normally, I would not post publicly about a situation like this, but I do not feel that I have any other option. I know you and I have had an exchange here. The first was when a post you made was removed due to it not being within the Terms of Service that you agreed to when you joined our forum. The message pointed out the post and why it was removed. You had the opportunity to reach out with questions. The post was noticed by me and I addressed it. I did not target you. I look at the content of the post before I look at the member that posted it. I do this for two reasons and the first is that I do not want to specifically target any member and two, I do not want to overlook the post if it is not within the posting standards and it is someone that I have had frequent interactions with.

The second exchange that I had was what I thought was a pretty good one. I welcomed you back to posting and told you that the R2R staff appreciated your contributions. I also welcomed you to reach out to us with questions. We do recognize that you can be very helpful to members and we greatly appreciate that.

In regards to the name change, the staff apologized about mistaking your last name for a drug reference and allowed you to keep the name. At no point were you accused of selling drugs. The staff mentioned that the ganja portion of your username could be mistaken for a drug reference. Again, we apologized even after you disparaged the staff publicly.

With that being said, there have been some interactions with you that have been challenging for both you and the staff. There have been times when you have repeatedly ignored staff members requests or have ignored the posting standards of the forum. This can be frustrating to not only you but the staff members. I would hope that you revisit the terms of service and reach out to the staff members if you have questions. We do not want to be editing or removing your posts. We would much rather to have you as a participating member of the forum, provided that it is within the posting standards.

This thread is now turning into a thread that is questioning the decisions that the mod team makes. This is actually against the terms of service that each member has agreed to when they joined the forum. Here is the excerpt:

"Be mindful of yourself and others. This forum is not a democracy; it is privately owned and we make the rules. If rules are violated we retain the right at our discretion to remove, edit or delete posts and, if necessary, ban or remove members. Any abuse toward our staff may/will result in immediate suspension of your account. Complaints about moderator decisions may not be made in posts; instead send a private message to a moderator. If a moderator deletes or edits one of your posts and you disagree with the action, contact the moderator concerned. Do not repost deleted material."

Here is the link for reference: http://reef2reef.com/help/terms It can also be found in the bottom right corner under terms and rules when viewed from a computer.

The staff is not out to remove posts. This is something is done by the team of moderators. We only make the decision to do so when the material is not within the posting standards of R2R.

Considering the direction this thread is going, this thread is closed.
