Hi there, I have an WWC OG bounce that I got half a year ago. Originally it was about a dime or so and now it covers a 1.5 inch disk. I have read that these will pop babies on their own, is this a rare event, how big and do they have to be for them to do that?

It all depends on each mushroom. Mine doesn’t, but I know others that have had babies from mushrooms around that size

That's a nice one for sure. One of our lfs has one about 5inches or so and has never split. I've seen alot of videos of people cutting and fragging them I just havent had the courage to do so yet.

Yeah I have seen people put rubber bands and cutting through the mouth, but heard they will shrink in size and will affect the growth speed. I'm hopping mine can split naturally so I can get my money back on it

I don’t think anyone really knows unfortunately. My small Mardi Gras bounce mushroom probably about nickel sized originally has split himself into 3 even tinier pieces. While my regular green discosomas will pop babies everyday it seems like. here’s some pics of what they’ll look like splitting. It’s quite scary. I thought it was dying on me.

Here’s a pic of my green discomosa colony. They split as well as pop babies. It’s never the expensive shrooms that reproduce rapidly lol. I also experimented and cut these with a razor blade straight through the mouth and had success they healed in a couple days. Try on a cheap mushroom before cutting up that beautiful OG

These shrooms rarely produce babies on their own. Once they are established and growing rapidly in your tank, they will only get bigger and maybe split on their own, otherwise everyone are cutting these up with a lot of good success.

Ive cut other rhoadactis right down the middle of the mouth getting half the foot on a piece of rubble and they have all survived, even the Small pieces with a foot develop mouths on their own, I assume it would be the same with a OG. good luck to you
