So for some reason bounce mushrooms just don't like my tank, I have jawbreakers and other lps/softies thriving.

So my og bounce hasn't been growing for many months, it grew for a bit then shriveled up and has been that way for months. I decided to try doing an iodine dip, used brightwells lugols solution and made a cup a tank water look like a tea color, and left it in for 15 min then rinsed in another container of tank wster for 5 min.

Once I put it back in my tank I noticed it's guts were coming out and all its bubbles basically gone. Should I be worried?? How come lugols had this effect? I thought it was pretty safe to use as a dip

I do not believe that lugols instructions say leave for 15 minutes. I may be wrong. But I use iodine based dips (I use povidine iodine 10% solution)mixed to tea color. If I want it strong I just make it to where I cannot see the bottom of the container with 4 inches of water. But I've always been taught and have read average 5 minutes max 6 minutes on iodine based dips.
Were the vesticles popped and looking stringy? If so that's not a good sign my friend. While I did not lose any at that time I saw a few vesticles popped and stringy looking, they struggled for weeks. My situation was similar to what you described. My Euphyllia was doing great, my polettis were doing great, even my momma OG looked great, but all my OGs 2" and under struggled. It was very odd and extremely frustrating to say the least. While I'm no shroom guru I have plenty of friends who either only grow shrooms or they successfully grow them and I could not get an answer from them as to what was wrong. I'm just now getting back to where I was 2 months ago with the shrooms. Except I did lose 2 big beautiful ones. And of course the ones that pulled through are ⅓the size when this all started. One thing I have found is a lot of different environments work for people. Low flow, low light, low flow high light etc.
This whole thing probably isnt much help but you are not alone!

Hi Jdubya, i could totally relate to your frustration. I have pretty much the same issue with my mushroom. They just don’t show any significant growth and never spilt in my tank... lol. They are not dying just won’t spilt and stay pretty much the same. I am moving on to something else now and just leave them be. Lol. Could it be low nutrients? My tank is very low in nutrients maybe that is the problem? Could anyone enlighten us ? Good luck with your bounce mate ! Happy reefing!
