SaraB and I made a trip to Midwest Saltwater last night because Bill said he had some stuff that I needed to add to my photo collection. The paying job is screaming at me, so I can't spend the day processing the photos, but I couldn't resist this one. I'm sure it'll end up being my favorite of the session. It's a five-image stack. More to come.

wow..that is unreal!....what sort of camera are you using? lens? and what does a 'five stack image' mean?

Thanks to all. It's my new favorite coral shot.

Patwa: For this shot I used a Canon 20D body; Sigma EX180 macro; Bogen tripod, horizontal arm, and ball head; remote release; angle finder so I can see what I'm shooting; and patience.

Stacking is shooting multiple shots, using a relatively shallow depth of field, each with a different focus point. Software (Helicon Focus in my case) is used to combine the images, keep the parts that are in focus, and reject the parts that aren't. The result is greater depth of field than is possible in a single shot.

My company is blocking your website hence why the picture is not showing.
