Oh yuk! I've got ICK!!! HELP!!!

that would work susan, i didnt think you were ready with the new tank yet? if you have the new tank ready to go then yes you could just move the corals over, get the whole tank setup and running, put the UV on it to help cut down on the parasites. Also while you have your other fish in quarantine you can be looking into any other teritorial fish you may want to add to the new tank. It is always best to add all the fish that are teritorial at the same time. so if there are tangs you know you want to get someday, this may be a good time to avoid them killing each other. just something to think about.

My big Naso and yellow tang are hanging in there. I only lost the big powder blue (still crying over that one), a carpenter's wrasse and my big yellow stripe maroon clown (a favorite of my daughter's- kind of sad). The Naso has cloudy eyes, and doesn't seem to accurate on the food gathering and is off his feed, but is still eating a fair amount. the yellow is not eating as well, but looks good (no cloudy eyes or visible spots).

The new tank should be here this week and I've got a 5K walk this saturday through work (if I walk, work give $50 to the charity- so I can't back out) and then a thing at church which may last until 3pm. Ugh. I could blow off church without much problem (just would need to let them know) or we could do the switch over on Sunday (after 11:30- have to sing in the choir- they are desparate.....). which ever day is best for you all....

I'll buy supper (at a buffet place) or order pizzas in (whatever you all want)

I've got Donny's 100 gal buckets and one is almost up to the correct salinity (I'm at the adding slowly stage) and correct temp and the other is being filled as the R/O unit produces. It should be full by tomorrow evening at the latest (depends on whether my husband is a nice guy and keeps filling the thing up and allowing the R/O to produce more or waits for me to get home and do it). I'm going to do a water change maybe Wednesday just to offload some offensive water and clean the tank up. My Ca is a bit high at 520 and Mg was ok at 1330. Not correct ratios, but I think I've been putting in too much CA since my old tank was always low and I figured that more corals needed more CA. I'll stop that. pH was 8.2 and Nitrates were ok, but need watching (water change will help that).

Plan is to dumpt the water out of the 100 gal and fill it up with water (maybe 80 gal 220 gal water and 20gal fresh made?) from the 220gal some rock and fish (not LR but dead (?) rock) and do the low salinity/low light/higher temp thing to the fish and let them incubate for 6-8 weeks.

The 220 gets swapped out with the help of a lot of friends (I will really appreciate any and all help I can get) putting all LR, corals and shrimp in the big 100gal containers from Donnie, (sand in a bucket or two- everybody bring a bucket?), taking old/new tank off the stand and putting the new/new tank and putting in sand, building up the LR stuff. None of my corals are attached to any of the big pieces (I hadn't done it yet and then found out I needed to swap tanks), so I think we can put those in before we put the water back in and maybe glue them together? They are just balanced on each other right now. You all can help me decorate (or at least give advice)....

And, I do want to add another purple tang to the spread. Donny has those whoppers and might hang onto one for me. If the big Naso dies, I'll get rid of the yellow after the quarentine since he's a whopper and meaninsh to other tangs and get smaller tangs. I hope my Naso makes it..... If he does, I'll need a whopper of a purple tang to match him (and maybe keep the yellow- have to compare sizes).

Thanks for all the suggestions and support guys! I do appreciate it...

hey susan, I didnt realize you were making the move this weekend. I am leaving to go snow skiing saturday morning. so I wont be able to help. Im so sorry. If you need some buckets or big containers or anything to help with the move let me know and I will try and get them to you.

Buckets would be nice. Maybe you can leave them with Donny (marked with your name on them)? I'm going to go and borrow his handy dandy pump with the mile long tubing on it later in the week. I've got 2 of Donny's 100 gal stock tubs filling up with water now (ones full and ready to go, the other is getting filled....)
Susan

I need ideas on piecing the rocks together. Should I try to glue them? I don't really like the drilling idea since I'm no good at that, it would make a big mess and possibly break the rock...... They are pretty solidly balanced on each other right now (should I try to take a picture?). I'm not really stuck on the current arrangement and if I get a head start on everybody getting here, I might have everything out except the water and the sand before you get here (doubtfull, but I can dream, can't I?!?)

What day is better for everybody? Saturday or Sunday? Looks like it's going to have to be in the afternoon either way. I know Donny's not able to help due to keeping the shop open (and I know you would and already are helping anyway with the letting me borrow a ton of stuff).
Susan

Susan I should be able to make it either day. I will just watch this thread to see when you plan it. I have some 5 gallon buckets 3-5 maybe.

Come on everyone - who else can donate some time to help out??? Lets pull together to help a fellow club member!! Bryan you should be ashamed of yourself...going skiing instead of staying to help. What a lame excuse!! I guess we can let it slide but just this once!

I guess I caould let my 2 month old reservations go and just skip 4 days of skiing! But no. I am always the first to help and this time I am going to be selfish and help myself! hehe! susan I have two 15 gallon tubs and several buckets you can use. ill drop off anything I think you could use at donnies one night this week.

I think going skiing is a reasonable excuse, and I would like to borrow your UV sterilizer for a while, but that can wait until you are back (since I'll probably electricute (sp?) myself somehow on something with no instructions). Jeremy said he PM'd me about selling his, but I don't know how to see PM's?!? Anyway borrowing yours (free, unless you break your leg skiing and then need money to pay off the doctor bills, maybe is always better than paying.....).

OK, Sunday it is. We have too much going on to do it on Saturday.... So plan on Sunday anytime after 12 noon. Or if you want to make it after 1pm and I'll try to have all the corals moved out/LR out (though I'd appreciate the help with any of that too). I'm going to borrow Donny's pump and loooooong tubing to help with moving all the water around. I need to know who can come and help (even if it's just helping move the old tank off the stand and moving the new tank onto it, I would appreciate ANYTHING.... But the heavy stuff (moving the tank) is the main thing that I need.

And the tank manufacturer doesn't want the old tank back, so does anybody want a 220gal Perfecto that has a broken bottom band? I have no idea if you can get the bottom strap for the thing or not (Donny, do you know?) I'm sure that Will (husband) wouldn't let me keep it for a predator tank...... Oh well. I've got somebody who has expressed interest, but if anybody from the club wants it, I'd rather it go to them. It's free.....
Susan

I will try to be there shortly after 12 Susan. Could you pm me your address and number?

I would also be interested in the tank but I would want to look at what is damaged first. When you say bottom band do you mean the plastic boardering piece that goes around the tank?

hey patrick from what I was told it was the plastic band that wraps the bottom of the tank that was cracked. could be fixed, replaced pretty easily. but since they offered her a replacement it wasnt worth fixing it.

hey susan, I took a 15 gallon tub and two five gallon buckets, and a large fish net to donnies for you today. hope things move smoothly for you.

Thanks Bryan! Patrick, Bryan is correct. It's just the band around the bottom. You could ask Donny if you can order another one from somewhere. He had one in stock for another brand, but it was a half inch too small or big. That's the only thing wrong with the tank. We epoxied it with some pretty strong stuff, but the tank people said that it was structural (looks pretty darn flimsy to me....) and they wouldn't guarrantee it (which it only has a year on it anyway since we didn't buy their stand- Will made the stand).

Patrick- I'll post my address in the CRC private forum. I don't mind all of you guys knowing where I live (and probably everybody on the forum is ok too, but you never know) so if anybody else can come, they will have directions (I'll give special directions to Tommy......).
Susan

Ive Got Some Stuff Im Trying To Get Out Of For Sunday Im Going To Do My Best To Get There And Help As Much As I Can Ill Let You Know Something As It Gets Closer

Well susana I deff want the tank so if it isn't spoken for then I WANT IT!!:D I will bring what I can sunday and should be there between 12 - 12:30.

Oh can I get the tank the next weekend or does it have to go this weekend?

It is going to have to sit outside until next weekend since we don't have room for it to sit inside. Could we load it onto our truck and drive it to your house this weekend/week sometime? I hate to put the thing on the ground/floor since it will kill us to pick it back up.....

And it's yours. I had another member interested, but he can't take it for a while and I need to get it out.....(and you asked first anyway).
Susan

Tommy, I posted directions in the private forum. Please try to come. I need bodies to move the tank....

Getting it to my house was the problem I had for this weekend. I hate for ya'll to have top drive it up though. I just didn't have a way or anyone to help unload it. What are the dimensions of the tank susan? Is it 8' long? I might be able to borrow a truck. It might fit in my suburban - how tall is it also? I will try to work out getting it back home. It will just be a long day and I would hate for you to have to drive 20 miles or so after all we will be doing.

Patrick, Probably we won't mind since it will get the tank out of our hair as quickly as possible. The tank is 6 feet long and I think 24 inchs wide and maybe 28 inches tall? It's the same height and width as Tommy's, just 6 feet (his is 8 feet). I just wish it was 8 feet so I could reach the bottom easier.....). It's the standard 220gal set up. Donny could probably tell you right off the top of his head....

I called Will (husband) and he says 24 wide, 30.5 in tall and 6 feet long.
