I went about my normal weekly maintnance and replaced the filter sock on my tank. Then, I grabbed my saltwater that had been mixing for forty eight house and began that process. As I just performed the water change I noticed I now have clear stringy gelantious gunk all over my rocks and clogging my reactor; what could this possibly be?? The filter sock I just replaced is now full of the stuff and overflowing; the clear stringy gel feels like slime.

I am at a loss; thankfully all my livestock looks fine!!

P.s. I cleaned out my reactor and added new gfo/carbon

was the old sock all full of the gelatin gunk? Bacterial slime?
Do you have anything that could have had a huge spawn in your tank.. a mass of clams or something I donno what else just a thought.

I have gotten that "stuff" before with my water change water before. Not sure what it is actually.

I am honestly at a total loss and to top it off I still dont have a camera with which to post pictures.

What type of salt? Was it the salt mix mixed to ensure it is an even consistency before being added to the water for mixing? How old is the salt? What type of water are you using? What type of mixing container?

Just stabbing in the dark, but I have some hunches. :)

Certainly strange and I know you don't have one yet but pictures would definitely help

could be vermited snails letting off all there snot nets at the same time. This happens to me randomly with no rhyme or reason...I had to get rid of my hang on the back skimmer cause they almost made it overflow a couple times.

I have no vermetid or any other pests in the tank since I used pukani dry rock. Also, I dont purchase any corals with any veremtids or other hydroinds attached since I dont enjoy seeing them cover walls and rocks in tanks.

I used my Salt water bucket for mixing, Instant ocean mixed and D&D Blended salt, Ro/DI water mixed for 48 hours prior to performing the water change. The Salt was purchased around six months ago but recently opened.
