Ohio reefer moved to Michigan

Well. Buckeye stuck in Michigan now. Sold off my set ups for the move. Moved in yesterday, and of course scoped out tank room. I was going with a deep blue rimless 80 gallon tank. The most beautiful tank I've ever seen, but I decided on a biocube 29. I'm starting this tank with the stock features, but will be upgrading everything. Being from Columbus id always go to phishy business and matts coral(sponsor). Loved those places and thought id never find a place like them again. Wrong. Found a store in canton mi, named fish doctors. Great stock and staff. I was very impressed when he noticed I was buying the biocube and knocked the prices off of everything else. I'm starting this tank with live sand and rock to reduce the cycle period. I already have my eye on a pair of clowns and a garden eel. I'm picking up the rodi water tonight and hopefully having it clear with saltwater by morning. Here's the tank.

If you guys haven't figured out by now I love deep sand beds. No question about it every tank of mine has one. Here is the tank with the rock and sand.

Tank is full. Cloudy but full. Live rock is teaming with life. Using live rock and sand should it be a quick cycle?

I live in Michigan and work in Ohio. .. Meijer is the best place for bottled RO water, chances are you live near one. Costs less if you bring your own bottles.

I just did a cube start up with LR and live sand and it cycled in a couple weeks, but I also did a fuge with cheato and some filter floss from my 3 gallon.

Thanks everyone! And so far I've been impressed by the stores. I love the "hobbyist" aspect of the shops. It's almost like walking into someone's personal tanks and making an offer on coral. They obviously have marked prices but are very negotiable.

Zero or 0.25? Can't really tell.

Although unlikely. I've heard of no cycle with live rock and live sand. Ammonia appears to be 0. Nitrite is 0. Nitrate is 10-20

I was able to almost watch mine cycle. First Diatoms were everywhere, then they dropped off and I had all kinds of fuzzy algae pop up in it's place.

I used to live in Michigan. In fact, that's where my obsession with reef tanks started. Some LFS I remember include Kee's (they always had a great selection of fish, at the time they didn't have a whole lot of coral, but they might now?), also Tropicorium, there used to be a place called the fish guys, but I think they might be out of business now. Also, Pruess Pets, kind of a drive, but awesome store to check out at least once. I'm trying to remember the name of another one that was really cool, but it escapes me at the moment. Anyway, also check out michiganreefers.com to stay up to date on the Michigan "scene." There's some great guys up there with AMAZING tanks, so you won't be disappointed.
