Ok dredded clown question: mixing clownfish

If you have 2 females, it unlikely work. If you have no female, then 4 or 5 ocellaris is OK

I've got three females and one male. No probs here... but I do acknowledge it sometimes doesn't. They are individuals.

When I say female, they got to be biological female, not the dominant young fish. A female clown will not tolerate another female clown in her territory. Out or dead essentially.

This hasn't been my experience but I've heard of others who've had the problem. When it comes to clowns there are vague general guidelines but no real constants. In my life I've had only one fatal victim of clown on clown violence.

Tagging along I was thinking about adding 2 more clown with an aclimation box to my 120. I also want seahorses ahaha but this summer has jumped the temp in my tank to 80 degrees so that wont be happening lol

Yeah the temp is defiantly an big issue/concern with the seahorses.
In my opinion when it comes to adding clowns so long as they're larger and there is plenty of live rock nooks and crannies they'll be fine. So long as you know it's a risk and for at least the first 48hrs you can be there to assist if the initial violence builds. Obviously some people have had problems but many haven't. I do not understand those who say it simply can not be done. Like anything else in reef keeping there are many variables at play and clowns have individual personalities. Some will have issues whole others will not.

I had a Clarke pair and common pair , but I am new so that's why
But after a few tense days everything was good
I have moved the common on as they where breeding . (I bought an established tank )

How do you explain in the wild when 2 pairs of clown fish live 6" from each other on seperate nems?

Have your clowns spawned yet? To me, It looks like your two larger clowns are in the process of pairing and chase the juveniles out of the anemone. They looks like young clowns to me. Just because you have two clowns together for a time does not mean you have a male and a female.

You may see a group of clowns together but always only one breeding pair per territory. It is possible that each pair have their own anemones, but there is no way that two breeding pair of fish are within 6 inches from each other, does not matter how may anemones there are. It is just impossible.

As long as they stay unsexed, they are tolerated but harassed somewhat by the breeding pair, but you cannot even add a male to a breeding pair. I have tried it.

Even if you keep to young clowns together and they are doing well, when one turn female, she will exert her dominance and beat up the other fairly bad for a day or two, then they would settle down as a pair. When you add a female in a pair, the fish is very vicious, even in docile species like Ocellaris or Percula.
