I purchesed nature's ocean aragonite sand but I was going to use it in my breeding tank for FRESH water shrimp. I thought I saw it was safe for all types or aquariums but now I don't see that on the bag. Is it safe for me to use or do I have to clean it?

Yeah the bacteria in the sand is fine for fresh water fish as well

Okay. I know the bag comes with salt water in it I just don't want to cause issues. I am planning on takeing water out out of my other tank to fill the breeder tank once I put in the sand.

Put the sand into a flat container and let it dry out if your worried, the small amount of salt water in the sand won't do any harm , depending on the fish you plan on getting it could be beneficial

No fish just 2 snails and cherry shrimp in one half and blue dream in the other

I wouldn't use it in a fresh water tank. It's aragonite. So it's like lime, lime stone. It's buffers the water, one of the reasons we like it in our reefs. I'd choose an inert substrate .

Agreed.

Right?

I learned it from an accident. Ugly one. If anyone ever says it's cool to put dry aragonite in a live tank , they are wrong. Jus sayin. Anguish.
Every reef boed said it was cool. Lots of "articles". Opinions. Well.....

I found the answer six months later after the horrors, on a fresh water site.
