Hi good people I am really confused if this is cyno or not. There is none on the sand bed but a few rocks have it and it does cover them if left unchecked. I have just recently vacuumed this rock and these are the filaments left over. It is in a super high flow area right in front of a scp-120 gyre. To the touch it is slimmy but that said so are are of the things in the ocean. Any guidence would be appreciated

Looks to be either foraminifera or Gelidium which is a type of turf algae. video is a little shaded to fully confirm (can use more white light)

Shrug. Video would not load but stringy, high flow area, and slimy, are telltale signs. Depending on type they can generate oxygen bubbles, but not always. Typical blah blah blah microscope to confirm whatever it is, but a down and dirty test for dinos is smell. Not sure it's all dinos, but all the types I have seen have a very pungent smell. Even in the tank you can usually smell them.

Yes, if the rest of it was easily blown off in sheets it is likely cyano. I consider it to be a transitory annoyance. Nutrients are either:
a) Out of balance. Like far from 100:1
b) Shifting higher or lower quickly or in different directions

What is your PO4 and NO3?

Does this help? I have just noticed a bit of GHA that I havent seen under the blues. I will get a samples later and put it under the microscope..thanks for the help all
