Ok, lets put a "zoanthid basic care" list together

Hi all!

Just had an idea...

I'm just now beginning to really get into corals, particularly zoos.

I haven't seen anything stickied anywhere, but I was thinking we could put together a list of basic care items needed. More than anything, I'm personally looking for different dips/medications to have on hand for new corals. Mostly zoanthids, but other types of corals as well.

What do you guys have on hand and what do you like to do to prevent disease and take care of your zoos?

So far, we have the following:

Dips/Meds:

Tropic Marin Pro Coral Cure: Saltwater dips
Lungols: Freshwater dips
Permoxyn (potassium permanganate): Freshwater dips (as far as I can tell... specific info is more than welcome )


Other:

Soft brush: brushing polyps
Tweezers: Grabbing all those things between polyps

Lugols or Tropic Marin Pro Coral Cure are good to have on hand. I like the TMPCC as my acans and micros don't like freshwater dips.

I'd add a soft tooth brush and some tweezers too. I like to brush my new polyps a bit and the tweezers are for getting to the questionable stuff that we all sometimes find.

Are there situations where Lungols would be better than TMPCC? Or are they about the same thing?

Lugols you use freshwater and TMPCC you use tankwater so i like the TMPCC better. But the freshwater does kill better. But like i said my Acans and micros don't like freshwater dips so i use TMPCC. If you dip your acans in freshwater they will lose a lot of color and turn white. Takes awhile to get the color back.
