I’m a newbie and need some help from the pros.

I bought a pair of clown fish approximately 2 weeks ago. Brought them home, placed them both in the same QT tank. They both looked great for about a week and a half. Then Sunday I noticed the male had a gray film on him. His breathing was labored. I thought ick or velvet, so started dosing Cupramine. Unfortunately when I got home yesterday he was dead.

My questions are about his widow. She is showing no signs of stress whatsoever, she looks great no signs at all of any problems. She is still in the QT with the Cupramine.

However, since the male passed in the course of 2 days from the time I noticed a problem, is it more likely this was Brooklynella? If so, I’ve read contradictory articles about the effectiveness of Copper for Brooklynella. Should I just monitor and complete the copper treatment for the recommended two week period; or should I treat more aggressively with a Formaldehyde bath? Even if she shows no signs, is it possible she’s a carrier and might infect the DT once she goes in there?

Just not sure the best course of action at this point. Thanks in advance.

Will post a pic, of the now deceased clown, later

Thanks HumbleFish.

Here's the dead fish. Not a great pic but you can see the gray near the tale.
