Hello,

My tank currently houses a yellow tang, two clownfish, a yellow goby, and a pistol shrimp. I usually feed the tank once a day. However, I am going out of town over the weekend. If I were to feed my fish on Friday evening and return home on Sunday, will they be ok going without food for a day? Thank you!

I would say yes. I’ve been gone for 2-3 days and they have been ok. I would say let’s see what everyone else thinks to be sure.

An auto feeder is also good in a pinch

Absolutely. They would be fine for days without food... altho they would definitely be mad at you.
One day they will be completely ok tho, don't worry about it.
If anything, feed heavily on Friday so they have a very full stomach for the weekend.

I have read that it is good to skip a day of feeding now and again to allow a fish’s digestive system to empty out. We tend to way over feed our fish as hobbyists. I am as guilty as anyone.

Yeah its no problem. I go away for the weekend occasionally and do the same thing.

I'd imagine its probably good for them every once and awhile. I'd say most people could afford to skip a few meals as well ;)
