OK to mix salt in tank?

I had to go fishless today because of a parasite. I noticed my salinity was wayyyy to low in my reef. 1.019. Would it be better to mix salt to do a water change or in this case just add salt to the sump?

It's better to mix saltwater and add it to the tank. You don't want salt crystals in your tank.

I have previously just added the salt to my display but I don't not advise this! It takes ages to mix plus you won't know if u have add to much! Best to mix it abit more concentrated and add it slowly!

I would never add salt to a tank. Why? I guess because I've read it over forums and manufactures websites for almost 20 years now.

How about turning off your ato if you have one and replace evap with salt water? It will take some time but will be a gradual change upward.

I agree with using evaporation to raise the salinity. As soon as it hits what you want add fresh SW to fill the tank.
