Okay I am new to this hobby, I am TOTALLY hooked, I love it..... thought everything was going great!! Okay heres where it started- We bought a 60 gallon cube tank- (not drilled) It came with an assortment of corals and a couple fish. We have since added some fish and corals- Well... me being dumb... Didn't quarantine anything before putting it in our lovely new tank! The sick fish I believe that Introduced all this stuff into our tank was a Coral Beauty that we bought from Eds Pet World..... Bad Decision--- The coral beauty didnt last a week and a half and died. After that I noticed my snowflake blenny scratching against the rocks and visiting our cleaner shrimp every 5 seconds- I went to the LFS- (not eds) and asked them, they sold me Microbe-Lift and said it would take care of it. I have used it exactly how it says.... well... I had a firefish goby die 2 days ago, yesterday I lost one of my clownfish, and today... My Yellow Tang- We only have 4 fish left- A firefish goby, a very sad clownfish, our blenny and Pink Tail trigger. Is there any possible way to save them!?! I will do anything and I am totally lost and Don't know what to do. I have done a million water changes.. have been checking my water daily.. How do I fix this!
Anything will help. I do not want to give up on the hobby but if everything dies, I may be forced to.....

Unfortunately there isn't a quick fix for ich. You need to get all of the fish out of the display tank, you can't treat them properly with any other inverts or corals or anything else. Put them in a 'hospital tank' with just the fish and a filter, maybe some hiding places (pvc pipe or something) and treat them all properly. Keep them out of your tank for at least 6 to 8 weeks. Ich can live in the tank for a time period without a host, but with no fish in the tank they will die off in 6 weeks. You can google curing marine ich and there are some really good in-depth articles. Just remember that even if you don't see ich on the other fish, they probably are already infected. Good luck!

Good advice above. The only way to minimize the risk of ich is QT new addtions before adding them to the display.

Oh believe me set up a QT lastnight- I just got a ten gallon with a small bio filter and I stuck one of my small powerheads in there... I took old dishes and made caves for my trigger and blenny.. The firefish goby is on his way out he was just laying there this morning and everytime I go to get him he gets up and moves... :'( But everyone is in the QT now and I did a large water change on the Main Tank. I have been reading about Hyposalinity and I think that is what I am going to try! Wish me Luck!!

sorry to hear that. I wouldn't shop at Ed's Pet World for anything marine related. While the freshwater stuff is quite nice, they dont take proper care of the saltwater and they lose a lot and as a result the prices are high and fish are often sick. Aquarium fantasies and imports are the only places I would buy from in the Birmingham area. hopefully the quarantine works well and you can save whats left of your fish. good luck and if you are still in the market for some coral I have a bunch for trade or sell atm.

Hypo salinity as a treatment is hit and miss and requires VERY careful attention to detail a refractometer and proper alignment of the stars, please use cupramine and follow instructions carefully, display will need to be fallow for at least 10 weeks for certainty. Copper meds #1, hypo #2, wait a year #3, those are the only options, anything else is BS

I know another place to get awesome and rare, colorful corals at a GREAT price...
; )

Not from the area. But how long did it take before fish were dying? Ich usually does not kill quickly.
Velvet kills within days.

Like Sasquatch said.
Hypo is very difficult to do right. Also does not work for velvet.
Copper or cupramine is much easier.

Leave dt fishless for 8 week minimum. 10 to be 100%

Watch that ammonia level in the qt if u just set it up. Get a safe alert ammonia badge. Like $6 and sticks on tank

Hope this helps
