Set up a a biocube 29 gallon on Monday. Used 30 pound of live rock with no die off on the way back. 40 pounds of live sand. I tested and ammonia is 0, nitrite is 0 and nitrate is 20. My question is do you think the 4-5" deep sand bed and the very mature rock may have eliminated the cycle to 2 days? Can I add clowns yet? I've always used dry rock and sand so my cycles have been long. This is my first time using live sand and rock to start a tank.

Its 2 days old? Maybe try ghost feeding it until Saturday and see where your levels are. You said you used dry rock with this tank?

Dry rock with my other tanks. This tank was started with only live rock. Very purple and lively. No die off because it wasn't shipped. 40 pounds live sand. New test results. Nitrate 0-5. Ammonia steady at 0. Think I can add the clowns?

Oh ok, makes sense now. If it was fully cured you would probably be just fine. When live rock is well established its practically the same as moving the tank.

That's what I wanted to hear! Thanks. I'll be picking up the clowns in a couple hours. Maybe a cheap frag.

I'm sure they'll be fine..... This doesn't sound like your first rodeo ;)

Thanks! And Haha far from it. Hopefully I can keep this tank going for a while. Things have always popped up like moves and stuff around those lines.
