Found this in my tank tonight. Has kind of a hard shell. I've seen smaller ones on the live rock overgrown with coralline algae.

Yes its a chitton!! We have many of them!! Amazing algae eaters. Love film algae and hair algae. Awesome find!! All mine are always torquise bluish and grey with black "hair" they are neat. Don't worry he won't eat anything or mess anything up. Most likely if you have crabs in your tank. They will find him and eat him if he's on the glass
 
Wow, awesome color on that chit on too. Aren't they usually green or tan?
 
Well...more like a Danish grey or light Danish green. The greens more from algae that has decided it's a nice spot . I put mine in a bucket with my others to clean off all the algae off their plates.
 
Deff a nice color Chitton though. Prob from eating coraline
