I have a tank that I purchased with 6 original AI Sols...they were never upgraded and have numerous bulbs burnt out. I don't want to spend an additional large sum of money on lighting, so plan on reusing these. What are my most cost effective options? I'm thinking that I only need 4 of the fixtures, so I could rob some of the bulbs and replace others to have a close to full set. Looking for some ideas...also, I can't find any replacement bulbs anywhere. Ideas on that as well please.

How big is the tank. I'm pretty darned sure we can work that out pretty easy.
What are the dimensions and what kind of corals are you aiming for?

The old AI Sols have three LEDs arranged on individual pucks. These pucks are very plug-and-play. Take a look at Reefbuilders' article on the Sol. You'll notice that if you remove the plastic cover and remove the center circuit board, you can unscrew the individual LED pucks from the heatsink. You can replace the burnt out ones with scavenged ones from the other units.

Tank is a 220...mostly softies and anemones(1 Gig, 1 Haddoni, and looking at picking up a Merten's locally.)

I'll take a look at the article. Thanks for the insight.

An Ai probaly will cover 20x20 at 14 in or so. So three or four will work.
They're quite high powered. So height is not a problem.

You can check the spread like this.

That's a 20x20 square. Just raise the light up till it fits the space.
