Hello everyone,

Been lurking here for the past few months as I considered starting a reef tank! As for the thread title...I am actually in the large scale Marine Rercirculating Aquaculture Business as a designer/builder/operator. Never wanted to bring my work home with me when I was operating these facilities, so I always used that as an excuse when the wife asked about an aquarium...:face-with-tears-of-joy: . Now that I am focusing more on the design and construction and moved away from operations, that excuse is no longer valid and I do find myself also missing the fish/system care aspect!

So, lots of experience with the science/mechanics, but I'm definitely a noob when it comes to Reef keeping! I decided to go with a RedSea Max-E 260 (will probably add the optional sump after the first year I suspect, but starting simple) and will be setting the tank up this week! really looking forward to learning from the experts on here and hopefully having a successful tank.

Cheers!

Welcome! Glad you joined. I'm sure your wife is super excited - this is such a great hobby for couples and families to share!

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)
