I've been running my apex system for about 6 years. I upgraded to the new base unit for the wifi capabilities. I have two original eb8s and I need to add a third. It seems the main difference between the new (832) and old (8) is the new can monitor power, control some Neptune DC stuff via 1 LINk and 24v ports, and has all digital relays instead of mechanical.

If I don't plan an using 1 LINK or use the 24v ports, it seems like the original is the way to go?

Monitoring power is nice but if my return pump goes out, my temp alarm from DT will notify me quickly.

Am I missing anything else with the features on the eb832? I read Suncrest's write-up. :)

I would go with the old one.

Have to confess that I was somewhat dismissive of the power monitoring capability initially, but I have found it quite useful. Whether it is $120 useful to everyone I cannot say. I was , for example, able to quickly identify a malfunctioning heater as well as some weird behavior from my main pump. Does appear, anecdotally, that there are more reported problems with the EB832 .... though it is more complex, so more things to go wrong.

I already have two EB832 and four EB8, but the last time I added one it was the EB8.
