Old media question

I recently setup a 32 biocube and bought a old 14g biocube from my buddy for the fish. He has been running the tank for over a year but the past 7-8 months didn’t do any water changes just topped off the tank. I was wounding if using his old fluval biomax media would be a bad idea to add to my tank for extra bacteria

You'll have the beneficial bacteria you want. The risk is you may also get pests and nuisance algae. I don't think a lack of water changes matter.

I'd go for it.

probably a good idea. If you want to be extra safe don't put any lights on for a couple weeks. That should kill most nuisance algae.

Well the tank is alrdy cycled just new like month old
