I have an 20 gallon tank that used to be used to house a created gecko and I would like to use it for an auto top off reservoir. I once heard that once a reptile is in a tank that said tank cannot be used to house fish. Does anyone know if this is true and would there be ill effects on my tank if I used it just for my ato.

I have cleaned it really well with vinegar and let it soak/water test for a few days as well.

I think you should be just fine.. vinegar is pretty strong stuff..
Worst case, after rinsing again, you could do a bleach/water treatment...

10% bleach to water let it sit for awhile and it should be fine.. Fyi dont let it sit with bleach for days lol 30 min or so should be good

If its a regular 20g tall the major reptile cage makers tetra and zoo med do not make one this size.(assuming its a tall as its a crested gecko)

They make a 20g long and a 40b, that is not suitable for water.

And Another cleaning option is oxiclean.

Billy Mays man.. to soon ... lol

As mentioned above - as long as it's an actual fish tank and not a reptile specific tank (thinner glass is the major difference) you'll be fine. Rinse it well and use it. You really shouldn't have to do any crazy amount of cleaning. In fact, if it takes more than about 5 minutes to clean, I'd just trash it and buy another at the seemingly endless $1/gallon sale at petco. Time is money.
