Getting ready to set up my new system I have about 75 or 80 lbs of old rock that came from a couple of tanks that I had set up about 5 years ago. When the tanks were torn down the rocks from one of the tanks (that was sadly neglected) was covered with algae. The other tank's rocks were covered in coralin. All the rocks have been sitting in a dry tub since the tanks were torn down. Wondering if anyone has any idea how I can make sure I'm not putting a Phosphate dump in my tank. Is there anything I can do to get these rocks cleaned up and ready for my new set up? Maybe a vinegar bath or run some SW in a tub with my skimmer and a phos reactor?

Id soak them in RO for a day or two and then give them a muriatic acid bath for a couple minutes. Then you can get it curing.

Can I soak them in RO and then after a couple days just add some of the muriatic acid to the tub? What about neutralizing the acid after the bath?
