So I will start out 16 years ago. I shut down my 220 gallon mix tank at that point in time I was running 4 metal halide‘s at 400 W with a little bit of mixed lighting. Running a one speed AC pump, a protein skimmer the size of a five gallon bucket. Lol. Fast forward I’m building a new tank much smaller 75 gallon drilled 30 gallons sump five chamber. Everything has seem to gotten so much smaller more efficient. looking for lighting ideas that will not break the bank. I’m wanting to run a mixed tank again. . and if anybody is or has knowledge of an ATS dump bucket system, “reef racer”I used to run one from inland Marine out of Terre Haute. Morgan lidster designed. Looking to find a similar system. The picture the stand is not quite finished yet.

HI, welcome to the reef... :)

Welcome back. Im in a similar situation, getting back in after 8 years out. Holy moly has the tech changed. There are soo many more tools available now.
Some are absolutely useful, and some are just snake oil. We're here if you have any questions.

Morgan still has both reef racers and the dump bucket systems in his shop. He still dabbles in rock and different things. I could ask him for you if need be.

as far as lights go I’m running Kessill on my 6’ tank I’ve got one AP9X and 4-A360X. I love the shimmer and the look.

I’m pretty old school like you. As I am a product of Morgan and Inland. I will add he’s not a big fan of Apex or any high tech controllers… but I have an Apex and love it!

Welcome back. As to lighting maybe look into noopsyche K7 V3 lights. I'm running 6 of them over a 6 foot tank and everything is thriving. Three might work for you and would only set you back around $600 with mounting brackets for all of them though I'm not sure how your canopy is set up for mounting lights? I also have radion xr15 gen 4 x3, AI hydra 26hd and a reefbreeders photon 32 v2. While most of the lights available would probably work for you the noopsyche are the best bang for the buck IMO and they put out a ton of PAR when cranked up.
