Once a month I pull out the ol Diatom filter. I bought it when my yellow belly Tang got ich. Now I use it once a month or whenever my fish look stressed. Makes a lot of bubbles at times but I'll never stop using it. A lot of people scoff but I saw first hand it's power.

Looks like a old model, does it have the flat gasket? Maybe you can do a video on how you prime it? I always have a tough time prime my old unit.

My old XL vortex died years ago, but I wish I still had it. Excellent for that occasional scrub. Haven't looked, can you still buy them?

I use a Marineland magnum in tank with DE and the micron filter whenever I see the need

No I bought it about 6Months ago. $160 well spent dollars! When I get some time I will post a vid

Do you use diatomaceous earth in it? This takes me back... just a tiny bit of the stuff would filter the water more clean than a five gallon bucket of carbon.

yup about 1 cup and a 1/2. it aint pretty but it works...
