I'm awaiting delivery on a new salt water tank. I have a bunch of old skeletal coral, red pipe organ, staghorn. Is there a practical use for it these days in a saltwater aquarium? It seem like the porosity would aid in harboring favorable bacteria. If so, what is the best way to clean it for use?

Any porous hard surface will serve for bacteria to establish. You can clean them with a garden hose and then rinse in RODI water prior to adding to your tank. Better if you do it as your initial setup and let them cycle in your new tank.
