Back in 2007 I had my reef up for 2 1/2 years. I never had any algae or dino issues other than a little macro algae with the foxface took care of. I only dosed occasionally Kent marine elements. I was running 2 ushio halides and a t5 combo light. My sump was a trickle filter over live rock, no light. I did run a skimmer.
What's bothering me is that the 60 gallon cube tank I've had a year may 11 is running a xr15 gen 4 pro and sump with fuge and skimmer. I've had nothing but issues. Cant keep any sps and only some lps. I had a mix of everything in the last tank.
I have an icp test that just arrived and ordered a bunch of new tests from brs. Next weekend all have all the answers I know you'll all ask.
When I build my next tank equipment wise I almost want to go back to what worked better
1st picture is my tank now

The first tank the 10 gallon I started with dry rock. The new tank the 70 gallon I started with live rock. Not having any of the issues I had with the 10 gallon
