I service a tank that has been set up for 25years...it has all the old equipment surrounding it in the basement even, from old....old barrel bioballs to devices which I cannot comprehend why.
With that said, the tank has its ups and downs...phosphates are usually constant..no matter what we've tried to do, same goes for a nitrate level of 20 that seems stable lol and has become the norm. The doctor is a great guy and one of the best people I know, he loves his life and his tank. He has mostly all his 'trophy' fish from when he started actually which we all try our best to keep going.
Fot myself, im working on my graduate studies and have moved between schools so I cant have a stable tank in one location but finally settling down after graduation so I was able to set all my babies back up again!!
