was up everyone, i currently found and old Giesemann infiti fixture and was considering getting them to add to my current Radions xr30 I’m only buying them for the 4 xT5’s. Found a few threads of people gutting out the MH components and putting leds which is what I will be doing. My concern was the price and age I saw the lights on but how old they look.

My question is how long do T5 ballast last I see I will have to replace the cover no biggie. Here’s a pic

In regards to the price I was concern about the price literally dirt cheap although he’s selling his whole setup dirt cheap

Sell that thing to somebody who can use the money get an Aquatic Life. That is a best-of-breed light and it would be a shame to cut it up, IMO. ...or just run it yourself.

As far as T5 ballast longevity... like a decade or more for the good ones.

Lol I wish I could run MH but summer times in my apt I have to keep my ac on most of the day to keep my tank at 80 degrees I have absolutely no ventilation in my apt. I was thinking about selling them but it seems there’s a small public for MH now a days and and these are a tad old I I’m imagining it will be even harder to sell. My tank is about 80% sps mostly acros but my Radions are doing a good job I been looking for used aquatic life hybrid but I’m always late and found these for Really cheap I was just concerned about the lifespan since I know this model is obsolete already

There are people looking for MH all over the place. Post it on the local club for a few days. In Denver, any AquaMedic, Sfiliogi, Hamilton or Giesemann fixture would sell in a day or two to people going back.

In any case, if you decide to cut it , up it will look nice. The T5 on this unit might even be better than those on the Aquatic Life.

Good luck.

I’m definitely going to diy it, the fixture has roughly 5-6 years of use the owner told me, I would feel more comfortable keeping it then selling something that old that might break soon
