Oldest aged fish in your tank?

My tomato clown and pair of percula clowns are over 10 years old. I got ich one time (from a coral beauty angelfish during the first few months of the tank) and they actually survived.

I learned then to quarantine.

My PJ cardinals and royal gramma are about 6 or 7 years old.

Wooww how do you Quarantine? All the tips u can give will be great

There's nothing unique about QT.............it MUST be done right with no short cuts.

I put a sponge filter in my display tank for 4-6 weeks to seed the filter. The most important thing is having a good cycled QT tank. I don't use any live rock because if you need to treat with chemicals you kill the pods & worms in the rock & that can cause a cycle. Barebottom tank with some inert decorations for the fish to hide. The fish stay in QT for six weeks.

I plan out what kind of fish I want to purchase...............I don't buy what's at the fish store or impulse buy. I wait for what I want or have the LFS get it for me.

Patience = Success & long lived fish.

Put together compatible species & don't overcrowd.

Without knowing the age of some of my fish, when I purchased them, it'd be a guess. However, I've had a pair of B/W Occellaris, that were adults when I purchased them, for 7 years, a Mandarin for close to 6 years...

We have had our Desjardini tang for 9 years. Not sure how old he is, the previous owner had him for a year and he already had full adult coloration.
