Oldest fish

I have a madarin that's around 8 and a indigo dottyback that was bought not long after ora started releasing them, so it has to 6-7 (was one of a breeding pair where the male got worn out after 3 or so years). My next oldest is a 5 year old marine betta that I hope to have for the next couple of decades.

Away from salty water I have quite a few 20 yr plus tropicals like synodontis, Dora, clown loaches etc

Mandarin that is 8? What is your secret?

Completely ignoring it tbh. I don't try to feed it, unless it comes to the top when the pumps are off and it sits there munching as many lobster eggs as I can give it. I would say the key is in the refugiums I have which are equal in volume to the display and the fact I follow the Paul b philosophy of allowing nature and natural processes to happen (ie embracing a little crud and plenty of critters). This natural food and hunting grounds means it always looks fat.
I also think going for a less impressive one to start with helps. I had no choice with mine as it was a rescue but people who pick the biggest males are mad. With a small male or female you have more time to get them feeding and need less natural food until they grow up. Get a massive one to begin with and you might see it starve before you can get it feeding.

Thank you! Mine is doing well taking Copepods and Mysis. He has a lot of Live rock to hunt in and seems very happy so I hope he stays for a long time!

I hope to keep my fish as long as y'all. I have a pair of Darwin ocelaris clowns that were a trade in at the LFS. I got them in March this year. The female is over 3" so I'm sure she's at least 3-4 years old, the male is just under 3" and they are always together.

My Sailfin Tang (King). I've had him since 2006. He's been thru h*ll and back with several moves around town, a tank that split in the middle of the night, parasites, infections, power outages, tank mates, the whole nine.

I'm happy to say he'll never move again. He's pretty glad to be in a 240 gallon 8 footer and it's 100% parasite-free. Thank you, Humblefish. [emoji225]

Good to see I'm not the only one Humblefish has blessed with a neat fish. I hope my CBB (Beaker) lives as long and happy a life as King!

I currently have two 4-striped damsels that I got almost 16 years ago. I have a few others that have been in my tank a while: Navarchus angel (11 years), magnificent foxface (almost 9 years), sailfin tang and maroon clownfish (8 years).

My oldest fish is my yellow watchman who is 8 years old. I just lost my coral beauty which was 7 years old, it was full size when I bought it so I like to think it lived a full life.

Not sure exactly, clown fish pair and a pair of mandarins around 6-7 years now. My Regal angelfish has been with me a year. Only 2.5 " when I got her. Now 3 inches. And all parasite free thanks to those of you who have shared your knowledge and time with me. Mandarins are fat thanks to Paul B. The Regal would never had made it out of quarantine if not for 4FordFamily, Humblefish and others who have shared information here. I hope to watch her live a long life.

I have a pair of GSM clowns that I have had for 20 years this summer.
They had to be close to a year when I got them from Flying Fish Express.
They still spawn.
