Hi everyone....had a 200 gal tank years ago. Got to much to handle. Have a Red Sea 70 gal all in one tank now. Tank is about one year old. Looking for some good, local zoas to buy to complete my zoa garden. I live in Wewst County Also, love to know what's the best way to get the zoas to really stand out, grow, etc. A lot of mine seen to only show a small about of the polyps at a time. Very seldom do I get all or a majority. Thanks for your help.

Hi Steve and Welcome! Welcome back to the hobby! Glad you joined.

I'm guessing lighting or water parameters are what is impacting your zoa growth.

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)

I agree with @Fish Think Pink that it may be something about the water quality or lighting that is the issue with your zoas not opening. What are your nitrate and phosphate levels? Zoas seem to open much larger and get brighter colors with higher levels of nitrates and phosphates.

Have you already ruled out pests? It may be a good idea to check out the zoas at night with a little light and see if anything is bothering them.

I can't speak to local places to get zoas but I have had good luck buying them online from quite a few of the vendors that advertise here on Reef2Reef.
