One month with a brand new Omega Vertex 150 and I come home from work and find it not working. At first I though it was the pump but apparently the impeller and ceramic bearing are fused together and will not spin.

I understand there is lots of crud and crap in our tanks but what the heck........one month and parts are fusing together..........definitely not happy.

Currently having it sitting in a vinegar solution hoping to un stick them

Me too lol. The LFS I bought it from had the upgraded impellers ready to trade me though so I was obly out of a skimmer like a day

399 messing dollars and the skimmer is sitting there not running because of the stupid impeller.

And hopefully the pump wasn't damaged trying to spin the seized impeller

The pump should be fine. I really like the skimmer the only bad apart about it was the impeller and my new one seems to be doing much better.

Considering the skimmer is a month old, you would think I would have the latest skimmer.

Curious to see if Bulk Reef Supply or Vertex will do anything for me

Well after soaking overnight, the ceramic bearing and shaft were still fused together. I tried prying it off and of course it broke.

14 plus hours now without a skimmer and I am furious. Who knows when I will get replacement parts.

So glad I didn't write my review yet

Good news, although I am still without a skimmer, Jen from ProLine Aquatics is sending out a new impeller with bearings. She was very helpful.

Oh no! I Just got one. Hope I dont have the same problem. So did they recently upgrade the impellers? What did they change?

I had the same issue and contacted Jen. She was very helpful.

I am actually running my original impeller. I Just used a lot of CA glue and it is holding fine. The impeller proline sent me is my backup. Initially there were issues where the needle wheel would break from the magnet.

My issue was the impeller and ceramic bearing fusing together, which prevents the impeller from spinning. And the ceramic bearing will snap if you try to pry them apart.

I didnt look at the made in ___ sticker but for the price point you would think these things would last a lifetime!

Yes, I agree $400 is a lot of money. It has the look of a BK, but not the quality. I have been on the fence over if I should buy a vertex or BK. The more I see threads like this, the more I know which one to buy.

if you need a replacement impeller for vertex 130 skimmer buy a sicce 3.0 impeller. it the same impeller just different color . it works great. on my vertex 130 pump. hope this helps.
