I bought a frogspawn today and was also going to get some Coral Rx to dip it in when I got home, but they didn't have any. So my question is can I do a FW dip?

I just got home and it is aclimating.
Thanks

yes, but ph balance it. Ive been using the peroxide method for dips.

I don't have anything, I was planning to get it there. It's only a small 1 head so I guess it would be easy enough to examine it, but I usually dip them in Coral Rx. Mine was old so I tossed it.

to be honest, I would be more concerned about a FW dip causing more stress than not dipping. LPS dont really harbor any pest specific to them. They may carry other coral pest or nuisance critters. A thorough cleansing in saltwater and a good scrubbing of the frag plug and any exposed skeleton would suffice. Again, the first preference would be use a good dip, however, any critter eggs etc that remain will still survive either freshwater or coral rx so its really a mute point.

I would take care of the coral in your situation and manage risk as best as possible if you want to add it to your system.

I did some reading and this is what I did: 1:4 ratio of peroxide and a mix of my tank water and store water. Added frogspawn and let it sit a minute or two. Rinsed and scrubbed plug in my tank water (but not in the tank) turned lights off and set frogspawn on sand bed. waited about half hour. Turned lights on and it is already starting to extend. Ordered some Coral Rx.

good work with the quick notice! Looks like a healthy frag and I dont think you should loose any sleep worrying about pests :)

go figure your cleaner shrimp has to inspect anything new in the tank immediately lol
