? on gluing ric to old tonga branch

I just got back from LFS with 3 ricordeas. They aren't attatched to anything. I have a piece of tonga branch I took out of my tank about 2-3 yrs ago and was thinking of gluing it to that. I'm wondering if there would be any die off or any reason why this might be a bad idea.

heres the tonga, I was thinking of breaking it in half.

I am aclimating the rics now and scrubbing the tonga.
