On line fish providers in Calif.

I have had really poor luck receiving fish from on line dealers in CA. They refund for D.O.A. but it bothers me that fish that were alive the night before arrive dead. Does anyone have a good dealer to recommend? Am I wrong thinking buying fish closer to home helps them survive? Breaks my heart opening bags with dead fish inside. Thanks for any information you can provide.
