So I have a generac 8000kw portable generator, but trips my UPS for the tank to the point that it's unusable. For that matter most of the electronics are really unhappy. I'm thinking of picking up a On-Line or Double conversion UPS, which goes AC -> DC -> AC instead of passing that cruddy frequency and voltage through. I've got the generator tuned as much as can be (it's converted to natural gas) but it's output just thrashes my cheapo UPS. Anyone used this sort of UPS for their Generators to quash the poor power they get?

Here is EXACTLY my problem, UPS trips every 4 seconds because the input power is bad:

Will this fix the mediocre generator output?

I really don't want to toss it for a $5000 Honda Inverter... I figure I could put a UPS that can handle the noisy generator for the fish tank and deal with the somewhat flickering lights. Anyone have this issue with their generator?

@Brew12 any thoughts here?
Thanks for the invite!

Have you called Generac? Their generator should power a UPS without issue if its one of newer ones. By newer, I mean the last 10 years or so.
